Christmas Ornament Wishes
If you want a creative way to take the pain you might be feeling around this time of the year and turn it into something intentional and meaningful (not to mention a really cool gift idea to give to friends), then these Christmas Ornament Wishes just might be the perfect thing to try this year.
Inside the ornament contains wishes and intentions you have for yourself for the holiday, especially if you have left your faith and are having a difficult time figuring out how to celebrate Christmas now. These ornaments can hold your vision for how you want to stay grounded during the season, what words you want to focus on, and what you wish most for yourself at the end of the month. The concept is similar to our Vision Bowl ritual but with a Christmas theme. And in an ornament.
Christmas Ornament Wishes
Materials needed:
- A clear ornament with a removable top
- Strips of paper (as many as you want) and a pen
- Festive string or tape (optional)
- Scissors
Make your wishes
You'll want to come up with a wish for each strip of paper. This is where you can get creative and imagine how you want the month of December to look like (despite how difficult this time might be for you). When you're coming up your wishes, think of things like:
- Words to focus on throughout the season
- How you want to feel
- Anchors you will use to come back to your vision for the month
You can even gift these Christmas Ornament Wishes to a loved one. Think about how special it would be to for a friend to open this up and know that you have thoughtfully creating wishes for them for the coming year (and they can read what you wrote...but only after the date you tell them).
Seal your wishes
After you have written down your wishes, roll up each strip of paper tightly. Make sure that they will fit through the opening of your ornament. If you have the patience (and believe me, you'll need it), you can tie them with string. Or if you prefer an easier option, you can tape them or just leave as is.
Place into the ornament
Once you have sealed your wishes, you can place them into the clear ornment and place the lid back on. Find an ornament hook and hang on your Christmas tree with care.
The most important part of all is to position it on the tree where you can see it daily. By doing this, every time you glance over at the ornament, you can remember the wishes you've made for yourself for the season. It helps remind you to take small, actionable steps to making your vision for Christmas happen to your best ability.
