Simmer Pot Gift Jars

We're helping you get more intentional this holiday season by creating your own rituals and tradtions that build purpose and meaning... all without religion. If you are looking to give your loved ones something meaningful this Christmas, give the gift of intentions with these Simmer Pot Gift Jars.

You can see the post HERE that shows you how to make your own stovetop simmer pot on the spot (try saying that fast 3 times!) without dehydrating the fruit. But if you plan to ship these to friends or send as gifts, you will definitely want to follow along with how to make these Simmer Pot Gift Jars below.

These aren't ordinary simmer pots, either. Inside each jar contains 5 bay leaves that the recipient will use to write down 5 different words on each of them. Why, you ask? Because those words will be the internal compass to lead them through what can be a very difficult holiday for some. It's designed to give who is receiving these jars the space to pause and decide how they want to feel this season. These Simmer Pot Gift Jars are the perfect idea for anyone who has left religion and now feels a little lost when it comes to celebrating Christmas. It will give them room to reflect on:

  • How they want to feel
  • Where they want to put their focus
  • What is important to them now

 Simmer Pot Gift Jars

Makes 4 jars

  • (4) 32 oz mason jars, cleaned and sterilized
  • 2 oranges, thinly sliced
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 8 cinnamon sticks (2 per jar)
  • 1 Tbsp whole cloves (1 tsp per jar)
  • 4 rosemary sprigs (1 per jar)
  • 4 pine branches (1 per jar)
  • 20 bay leaves (5 per jar)
  • 2 baking sheets, lined with parchment paper

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. On each baking sheet, place the oranges on one with half the cranberries, and the apple slices on another with the other half of cranberries. You can also sprinkle the apples with some ground cinnamon if you want.
  2. Dehydrate the fruit for 8-12 hours, turning the slices over every couple of hours. The time will vary depending on 1). How much fruit you have, and 2). How thin you sliced it. Keep an eye throughout the process. You will know that they're done when the moisture is gone and the cranberries are dried up.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Separate all the ingredients evenly in each of the 4 jars.
  5. Print the instruction gift tag and send to loved ones.
